3 Hours Before Flight Time
You will try some of the finest Italian foods and wines visiting local producers. Visit stunning cities in central Italy and keep in the backdrop the world-famous Tuscan and Umbrian landscapes.
Upon arrival at your airport pick up your car and drive to your Hotel in the Cortona’s area. Depending on your arrival time we suggest paying a visit to the stunning hilltop village of Cortona, with its beautiful well preserved medieval center.
After breakfast drive to Assisi for a private guided tour. Don't miss St. Clare Basilica; Piazza del Comune with the medieval buildings and the interesting Roman sacred construction named Minerva temple and St. Francis Basilica, the cradle of the medieval European art, whose church was built upon the Saint’s tomb. The Basilica is an architectural masterpiece containing some of the finest paintings of medieval Italian art, from Cimabue to Giotto. For the afternoon
proceed to the beautiful medieval village of Spello where you can admire its white and pink stone houses and the breathtaking renaissance fresco by Pinturicchio in the Cappella Baglioni. Stop in a local olive oil mill to taste the green gold of the region. Return to your hotel for the overnight.
In the morning explore the beautiful city of Perugia, the capital of Umbria with its beautiful medieval and Etruscan city center. Don’t miss the opportunity to discover the chocolate-making tradition for which Perugia is famous all over the world: visit a chocolatier and try some delicious pralines. On the way back to your Hotel we suggest stopping in Passignano, a stunning village located on the banks of the picturesque Lake Trasimeno.
Full-Day Excursion to the Val d’Orcia: Drive to Pienza. You will visit a cheese farm where you will have the chance to see the techniques of production and taste some good Pecorino cheese. You will have unique opportunities to get to know the animals and the way of farming and producing. Do not forget to pay a visit to this beautiful medieval village before driving to Montepulciano where you will have an unforgettable wine experience at a winery of the area famous for the “Vino Nobile di Montepulciano”. Overnight stay at your hotel near Cortona.
Drive to San Gimignano, a small walled medieval hill town in the province of Siena, famous for its medieval architecture, with its hilltop setting and encircling walls and the characteristic "medieval skyline". Within the walls, the well-preserved buildings include notable examples of both Romanesque and Gothic architecture, with outstanding examples of secular buildings as well as churches. Proceed to a family-run organic farm that produces excellent wines and delicious local products. You will have a typical lunch with the farm products, and other typical
products of the area such as saffron, which will be used to prepare some of the dishes you will taste paired with the local excellent wines. Reach the nearby city of Siena where a private guide will unveil this very beautiful town of medieval origin, characterized by the orange-brown color of its land and buildings. In the Piazza del Duomo, admire the Cathedral, with its coating of white-black marble. See then the Piazza del Campo, which hosts every year the famous bareback horse race called “Il Palio”. Return to your Hotel in Cortona for the overnight
