Itinerary

Day 1León

Arrival in León on behalf of the client. Accommodation in León.

Day 2León- Astorga 49 km

Departure from León, one of the great capitals of the Camino de Santiago. We begin our Camino with a fairly simple stage, since the path gradually softens as we approach Astorga, head of one of the largest and oldest dioceses in Spain and capital of the Maragatería region. It is also the point where the Camino Francés and the Vía de la Plata meet.

Day 3Astorga- Ponferrada 54km

The terrain is getting more complicated in this second stage, since there are more ascents than descents. We will cross towns like Foncebadón, one of the most typical cities of the Maragata region and we will be able to approach the Cruz de Fierro, on Mount Irago, the highest point of the Camino de Santiago Francés, specifically about 1,500 m. altitude. After the descent from Cruz de Fierro we will arrive more comfortably in Ponferrada, capital of the Bierzo region, where we can visit the Templar Castle.

Day 4Ponferrada- O Cebreiro 50km,

In the middle of the Bierzo region, leaving Ponferrada, we will begin the ascent to O Cebreiro, the most mythical of the French Way. We will soon arrive at Villafranca del Bierzo, 24 km from Ponferrada. Arrived at the dreaded point of La Faba we will find two detours. The most recommended is to take the direction to the hostel, since the terrain is less complicated. We leave the province of León behind and enter Galicia through the province of Lugo. Entering O Cebreiro, we will find the Pre-Romanesque Church Santa María La Real welcoming us. The climb of the Cuesta de la Faba, with almost 700 meters of elevation difference, is one of the most feared on the Camino, but the arrival in O Cebreiro, a village of immense Jacobean tradition and the entrance to the magical Ancares, make it worthwhile. the effort.

Day 5O Cebreiro- Sarria 40km,

On our fifth day we will cycle through the slopes of Mount Area and we will face the ascent of Alto do Poio (1337 meters). After these two ascending sections, the descent begins to Triacastela, where the path forks into two itineraries: on the left, the LU-633, traced to Samos, where we will pass through its Benedictine monastery that will direct us to Sarria, or Well turning right, the route through San Xil, which is 6.5km shorter in terms of distance, but more difficult. Once some of these two sections have passed, there will be little left to reach Sarria.

Day 6Sarria- Melide 61.4 km,

This is a relatively short stage in terms of length, but it presents certain difficulties in terms of travel. Divided by the Sierra de Ligonde, we will cross the towns of Portomarín and Monterroso. During this stage, we will be able to make several interesting stops, to visit places such as the Church of Santa María in Portomarín, the Chapel of San Marcos and El Crucero de Lameiros in Ventas de Narón or even visit the Pilgrims Cemetery in Ligonde. The Church of San Tirso will welcome us to Palas de Rei, and then we will have a few kilometers left to reach the goal of our stage today, Melide.

Day 7Melide- Santiago 52,8 km
