Itinerary

Day 1Arrival -Welcome to Istria

Arrival to airport where we are welcomed by our tour guide. Transfer to Porec in Istria and get settled into our Porec hotel which will be our home for the week. Before dinner, we meet with our tour guide around a welcome drink they present the hotel and the week’s program. Dinner in the hotel.

 

 

Day 2Porec & Groznjan

After breakfast we meet our guide for a walking tour of Porec. Enjoy discovering its ancient Roman street layout and the Byzantine Euphrasius Basilica. After enjoying freshly caught fish for lunch in a local restaurant we visit the picturesque artist hilltop town of Groznjan. We will have time to explore its winding streets filled with boutiques selling art, jewellery and crafts
made by local artists. Later on, head to Buje where we will meet one of the most famous Istrian winemakers and learn what makes Istrian Malvasia so good.

 

 

Day 3Pula

After breakfast in the hotel we head to Pula. We will discover the oldest city in Istria, founded over 2000 years ago by Romans.Be amazed by the sixth biggest Roman Amphitheatre in the world and enjoy walking down the centuries old streets filled with artefacts of a bygone era. Discover the colourful Pula city market where we will get to taste a selection of the best goat cheeses from Kumparicka goat farm, one of the most renowned cheese producers in Istria. On our way back we will meet one of the most important Istrian olive oil producers and learn everything about how to make an exceptional olive oil. Get to know first hand why Istria was named the best olive oil region in the world for 6 consecutive years by “Flos Olei”, the Bible of olive oils. After the olive oil tasting, we head back to Porec.

 

Day 4Magical central Istria

After breakfast, we head towards Central Istria for a day’s adventure. Istria is sometimes referred to as “the Croatian Tuscany” because of its medieval hilltop towns, its rich wine history and its world renowned olive oil. Explore the streets of beautiful Motovun and meet the local family that depends on truffles. They will take you on a truffle hunt in the forest nearby and show you the tricks of the trade . Get to taste some truffle products (lunch) and learn everything about this cherished mushroom. On our way back we make a stop in a small village of Radosi where me meet a local family of honey producers. We get to know the
secrets behind making the best honey and get to taste some.

Day 5Charming Opatija

After breakfast in the hotel we head towards Opatija. Also known as the “Nice of the Adriatic”, Opatija has been welcoming guests since the end of the 19 th century when the Austrian aristocracy started enjoying its mild climate. We will enjoy its lush gardens and turn of the century architecture during a guided visit. Today we will have lunch in a local tavern (konoba) and enjoy typical Kvarner region delicacies. On our way back, we make a stop in Buzet to visit “Aura” distillery which is renowned for making the best traditional brandy (“rakija”). Get to know the process and taste some of their best “rakijas”.

Day 6Relax in Porec-dinner in agrotourism

This day is at your leisure. Sleep in, enjoy a lazy breakfast and go for a walk in beautiful Poreč for a discovery of its ancient streets, houses and the UNESCO protected Byzantine Euphrasius Basilica. Lunch is in the hotel today. In the evening, transfer toa nearby village to an agrotourism for a typical dinner accompanied by music.

Day 7Boat ride to Rovinj

This morning after breakfast we get ready for a day in Rovinj. On our way, we will marvel at the beautiful Istrian coast, visit Lim Bay renowned for its oyster and mussel farms and arrive in Rovinj just for lunch in a local restaurant. After lunch we will enjoy a guided stroll along Rovinj’s winding colourful streets, climb up to Santa Euphemia church and visit the Eco Museum“Batana” to learn about Istria’s interesting maritime traditions. Later we will enjoy a nice panoramic boat ride around the historic centre of Rovinj. Free afternoon to enjoy the towns unique atmosphere. Return to Porec for our goodbye dinner in
the hotel.

Day 8Departure

Meet your guide in the morning for your airport transfer. Safe travels and hope to see you soon!
