Our cycling holidays Austria really has a lot to offer: the sporting adventure and cultural and historic highlights make your holiday an unforgettable experience. Our tour takes you through parts of the Salzkammergut and the Mozart town Salzburg in seven days.

Austria is an ideal European destination for lovers of nature and idyllic landscapes, with its lakes surrounded by mountains and unspoiled nature. We therefore offer cycling tour in this beautiful country where nature is not the only strong point. Salzburg one of the most renowned cities in Austria and Europe, and has possibly the best-preserved old town centre full of beautiful baroque architecture which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Note to the bikers

  • LUGGAGE: a backpack (40 l minimum) and hand luggage for the plane a travel bag or a large backpack for the rest of your luggage
  • CLOTHES: To be adapted according to the season: a pair of shoes suitable for pedaling a pair of sneakers for travel and comfort at the stage or barefoot a Goretex windbreaker a sweater and a fleece shorts a swimsuit long pants in light canvas wool socks (not too thick) Spare T-shirts and Underwear hat rain cape
  • THE MATERIAL TO BRING ; your bike helmet towel sunglasses sunscreen at least one liter aluminum flask or Camel-Back type water bag flashlight or headlamp + spare battery 1 pocket knife your camera don't forget your identity card
What to Expect

This cycle tour doesn’t have any technical difficulties, there are only very few ascents! A reasonable fitness
level is necessary to enjoy this trip as well as cycle equipment like sneakers, rucksack, sun- and rain
protection, comfortable sports cloths, jacket, jumper, and so on. The routes are suited for trekking bikes –
mostly they are asphalted cycle paths, a few stretches are gravel and forest paths. Should you want to
spend a quiet day, you can cover most distances by public transport like bus, train or boat.

Itinerary

Day 1Individual arrival in Salzburg

Handing over of the travel documents and bicycles (if booked) in the hotel in Salzburg.
Overnight stay in Salzburg.

Day 2Salzburg – Thalgau, ~23 km, altitude difference + 273 m / - 142 m

Salzburg – Thalgau, ~23 km, altitude difference + 273 m / – 142 m
We recommend taking the morning to explore the city of Salzburg a bit.
Start cycling along the former “Ischler Bahn” railway line past Eugendorf and to Thalgau.
Overnight stay in Thalgau.

Day 3Thalgau – Bad Ischl, ~43 km, altitude difference + 315 m / - 386 m

From Thalgau – through a forest to St. Lorenz at Lake Mondsee – over the Scharfling (short
ascent on high-pass Scharfling pass) to Lake Wolfgangsee – lake side cycle path to Strobl –
through Lindau on to Ischl.
Overnight stay in Bad Ischl.

Day 4 Bad Ischl – Lake Mondsee, ~29 km, altitude difference + 289 m / - 269 m

The cycle path starts in Bad Ischl, goes through Pfandl – Radau to St. Wolfgang – with the boat from
St. Wolfgang to the Mozart village St. Gilgen – over the Scharfling pass and past Lake Krottensee to
Lake Mondsee. You cycle along the lake shore to St. Lorenz and further to Mondsee.
Overnight stay in Mondsee.

Day 5Lake Mondsee – Seekirchen, ~37 km, altitude difference + 355 m / - 338 m

Tipp: Visit the “Rauchhaus” and the “Bauernmuseum” – an outdoor museum in Mondsee about the
farmer’s everyday life in the region! From Mondsee to Lake Irrsee along the cycle path – the path
takes you along the left shore to the end of the lake in Oberhofen – branch off to Neumarkt – around
Lake Wallersee to Seekirchen.
Overnight stay at Lake Wallersee.

Day 6Lake Wallersee – Seeham, ~34 km, altitude difference + 315 m / - 313 m

From Lake Wallersee past Köstendorf to Schleedorf – further to Lake Mattsee – Lake Obertrumersee/
Mattsee circular tour – to Seeham.
Overnight stay at Lake Obertrumer See.

Day 8Seeham – Salzburg, ~34 km, altitude difference + 289 m / - 389 m

From Seeham past Nußdorf to Oberndorf – Quiet Night Chapel – along the river Salzach on the
Mozart cycle path past Anthering to Salzburg.
Overnight stay in Salzburg.
