This hiking holidays in Aosta Valley is a fantastic trek that winds its way through the Gran Paradiso National Park, the oldest in Italy, involving all three valleys of the Aosta Valley: Val di Cogne, Valsavarenche and Val di Rhêmes.
Three hills over 3,000 meters high to climb: Col Lauson, Col Entrelor and Col Rosset and many valleys of immeasurable beauty to be covered while admiring verdant alpine meadows, foamy streams, sparkling glaciers, alpine lakes with clear waters with shades of color that from cobalt blue tends to emerald green.
And then, lots of wildlife: golden eagles, bearded vultures, ibex and chamois.
Difficulty: intermediate, hiking trails (E), however characterized by the presence, in some sections, of exposed parts or with a high slope suitable for expert hikers (EE); good physical preparation is therefore required. Average height differences of the treks between 850-1,650 m.
Duration of the walking holidays in Aosta Valley : these are to be considered with a certain approximation, normally, net of breaks and depend on the rhythm and physical condition of the participants.
Min age 16 years: in relation to physical preparation, younger children can also be admitted as long as they have good training and are used to walking uphill in the mountains. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied throughout the trek by at least one parent.

Free arrival in Cogne in the Aosta Valley, hotel accommodation and, depending on the arrival time, time available for a walk in the characteristic village. First stage: Valnontey (1,667 m) – V. Sella Hut (2,588 m) – Col lauson (3,296 m) – Eaux Rousses (1,666 m) – Tetra Lyre Hut (1991 m)

Dinner and overnight in the refuge.
Meeting with the guide, transfer by private vehicle to Valnontey, the « Door » of the Gran Paradiso National Park. Beginning of the trek to the Sella refuge, once the hunting destination of King Vittorio Emanuele II of Savoy, due to the abundance of ibex and chamois, now a destination for passionate hikers. Ascent to Col Lauson 3,296 m (the highest of the entire Alta Via of the Aosta Valley), habitat frequented by numerous and precious Alpine ibex. Then descent through the long and enchanting Levionaz valley.

Second stage: Tetra Lyre Refuge (1,991 mt) – Croix de la Roley (2,313 mt) – Col Manteau (2,789 mt) – Djouan Lakes (2,516 mt) – Col Entrelor (3,007 mt) – Marmotte Refuge (Alpe Entrelor, 2,142 mt )
Difference in height: approx. 1300 m uphill / approx. 870 m downhill. Journey time: 7 hours 30 mins approx.
Dinner and overnight in the refuge
The part of the itinerary between the Croix de la Rolley and the Col Manteau offers enchanting panoramic views of Grivola (3,969 m) and the summit of Gran Paradiso (4,061 m). The lakes of Djouan, which we will meet just beyond the hill,
they really deserve a break to contemplate the beauties of the nature that surrounds us. The Colle Entrelor will then allow us to descend to the Marmotte Refuge (so called due to the assiduous and massive presence of friendly rodents).

Third stage: Marmotte Refuge (2,142 mt) – Rhêmes-Notre-Dame (1,723 mt) – Benevolo Refuge (2,287 mt) – Goletta Lake (2,699 mt) – Benevolo Refuge (2,287 mt)
Difference in height: approx. + 980 m / – approx. 430 m Travel time: 6 hours 30 min / 7 hours approx.
Dinner and overnight in the refuge
Pleasant and relaxing descent from the Marmotte refuge and approach to the Benevolo Refuge with a great view of the daring face of the Granta Parey (3,387 m). Ascent to Lake Goletta from whose shores there is an admirable view of the glacier of the same name above. Then descend again to the Benevolo.
Breakfast
Fourth stage: Benevolo Refuge (2,287 mt) – Col Rosset (3,025 mt) – Rosset Lake (2,701 mt) – Savoia Refuge (2,533 mt) – Piano del Nivolet (2,400 mt) – Pont Valsavarenche (1,850 mt). At the end of the trek, transfer to Aosta, hotel accommodation.
Difference in height: approx. +850 m / – approx. 1200 m Travel time: 7 hours 30 mins. 8 hours approx.
Overnight
Third and last pass over 3,000 m to cross during our fabulous trekking; the descent from Col Rosset will then allow us to skirt the lake of the same name and, further downstream, the Nivolet lakes in the immediate vicinity of the Savoia Refuge. The view on Punta Basei (3,338 m) is nothing short of fantastic. Crossing the long plateau / valley of the Nivolet up to Pont Valsavarenche.
