Culturally, Extremadura is rich with the legacy of the various civilizations that have prevailed in the Iberian Peninsula. Its cuisine, festivals and local traditions have survived the centuries and still form part of everyday life. This 8 days trip, will allow traveller to discover Historical towns and villages, where the legacy from the past is still visible today.
This tour offer the opportunity to visit four UNESCO sites, within the same Spain region and implies a considerable walking time while visiting archaeological site and exploring the cobbled streets of some villages, please be sure of a minimum level of fitness.

3 Hours Before Flight Time
The heritage is remarkable, and in particular the Roman road (the exceptional Merida and the milestones still marking the way testify), on which generations of pilgrims have given birth to the most beautiful examples of Romanesque art. Nature is beautiful and surprising: green hills, dehesas, forests and mountains … where you did not expect! The cities and villages, grand or picturesque, are often part of the heritage of humanity.
We offer you a great trip in every sense of the word: crossing anunknown region of Spain – – with all the diversity of its landscape, natural, cultural and historical riches. .
Collect your car from the arranged rental car office at the fixed time, and drive on A-5 toward Trujillo.
Night in Trujillo.
In the morning, collect your audio guide (option included) to start a walking tour of Trujillo stunning old town. Recommend to climb up to the castle, the walk is steep but well worth it, to view the roofs of Churches, Palaces and Convents of the monumental town, as well as, viewing large granite boulders and the plains that surround Trujillo.
In the afternoon take the Ex-208, toward Guadalupe a historic village, with cobbled streets and traditional homes, filled with valuable monuments, like the Sanctuary-Monastery of Our Lady of Guadalupe, declared by UNESCO, World Heritage Site in 1993. One of the best examples of peninsular Mudejar art.
night in Trujillo.
Departure with luggage and take A-5 to Mérida. This town was founded by the Romans in the year 25 B, named the capital of large Lusitania territory. Visit the Roman Archaeological Ensemble of Mérida (ticket included), declared world heritage site by UNESCO in 1993.
In the afternoon continue to Zafra, one of the Extremadura most charming village, called little Seville, which has always been an important trade center. A visit to plaza Grande and Plaza Chica and walk around manor houses, convent and churches.
Night in Cáceres.
In the morning walking in Caceres’s old town,(optional guided visit) which boast one of the most impressive artistic and monumental collection of buildings, and one of the best preserved of Europe, declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986.
Continue to “los Barruecos” the area with huge granite boulder and incredibly beautiful and bizarre nature reserve. Included a visit to Vostell museum, built in1976 where the wool washing used to be in 1976.

Afternoon drive on EX-207 to Alcántara, old main headquarter on the military order that offer an interesting collection of heritage building, like San Benito convent (visit included). It’s impressive Roman Bridge, which was built in the time of the Emperor Trajan, and a gateway to the International Tajo Natural Park.
Night in Caceres.
Today time off in Cáceres, to enjoy other cultural visit, walk around old town, or have a gastronomy day in one the famous restaurant.

Departure with luggage to Plasencia, surrounded by a powerful wall, erected when Alfonso VIII of Castile founded it in 1186. We must highlight its Cathedral, with the magnificent sculptures/carvings/engravings of its choir, and the Plaza Mayor.
Continue to Royal Monastery of San Jerónimo de Yuste, European heritage label, located in the Valley of La Vera. The building is an exceptional example of Renaissance architecture in Spain.

Return through La Vera Valley toward the hotel in Torrejon.
In the morning, take the EX-208 into Monfragüe National Park, a fine example of Mediterranean Brushwood landscape.
It was declared National Park in 2007 and labeled as a Biosphere Reserve in 2003 by UNESCO, and is undoubtedly one of the largest and best conserved Mediterranean forest areas in the world.
Stop in the car park area, and walk up to the Cave, entrance included. Continue to the Castle, optional, or return back and drive to the village, villa Real de San Carlos.
Night in Torrejon.
This morning, driving back to Madrid Barajas airport. Go to the rental office to return the car, at the arranged time. Please do not forget to take all your belongings with you, before heading to Airport for your check in.
