Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Lisbon

Arrival to Lisbon. Welcome by the local guide and starting of the visit of the sightseeing tour of the Portuguese capital going through areas like Avenida da Liberdade, Baixa (The area of the city rebuilt after the earthquake of 1755,continuing of the walking tour to the downtown – Commerce Square, Augusta’s Arch, Rossio. Transfer to the hotel. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.

Day 2Lisbon

Day spent with a FD Tour of Lisbon. Getting to know the highlights of the Portuguese Capital – Alfama quarter, one
of the oldest districts of Lisbon with the Cathedral & St. Anthony’s Church and castelo S.Jorge. In the afternoon, visit
to the Monastery of Jerónimos (only church), the Belém Tower and the Monument to the discoveries. Table set at
the Confetaria de Belém – since 1837 baking the famous “Pastéis de Belém”, Portuguese tarts or custards, as they’ve
grown to be known abroad. They produce about 20 000 a day and they represent the main delicacy of the
Portuguese pastry. Menu 2 custards + 1 hot drink per pax. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

 

Day 3Lisbon/Azeitão/Beja

Departure from Lisbon to visit the region of Azeitão. They’ll visit Quinta da Bacalhoa, an estate from the 16thcentury with glazed tiles from that era. At the same time, they’ll be acquainted with the production of Muscat wine.
In 2009 a Muscat wine from this region won the nr 1 prize in France for its fine quality, at the contest Muscat’ s du Monde. Possibility of lunch at the place. In the afternoon, they continue to a glazed tiles workshop. They will get to know how the Portuguese glazed tiles are made and painted and paint their own glazed tile to take as a souvenir. Even Elton John ordered glazed tiles from that rustic workshop, for they are still produced in the good old way. Late afternoon arrival to Beja. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.

Day 4Beja

Day dedicated to exploring the beautiful region. Wine degustation and visit to the hotel’s winery. Lunch at the hotel.Possibility of doing activities like balloon ride, or horseback riding in the propriety. Dinner and overnight.

Day 5Beja/Monsaraz/Evora

Leaving the hotel and stop in Monsaraz to explore the beautiful walled-town, as well as its magnifique view over Alqueva biggest artificial Portuguese lake. Visit of Herdade do Esporão to try local products – wine, Alentejo’s traditional bread and olive oils. Possibility of lunch in Herdade do Esporão or Évora. After lunch, visit of Évora with its bonés chapel and its enchanting historical centre. Check into a hotel with pool in Évora or sea view in Lisbon surroundings.

Day 6Evora-Lisbon

Return to Lisbon crossing another bridge overlooking Lisbon. Transfer to the airport.
